Vice President for Communications

The position of vice president of communications is in charge of all internal and external communications for GA United.  It requires a significant commitment of time and effort.
This position has assistantship possibilities as determined by the Stewards Council.
Responsibilities are outlined below.

• Assumes the powers and duties of the President in the President’s absence or inability to serve
• Succeeds to the Presidency pursuant the Bylaws
• Assumes responsibilities and tasks as may be assigned by the President
• Serves as Chair Communications Committee
• Recruits activists to serve on Communications Committee
• Oversees internal communications to and from GAU bargaining unit-
• Utilizes GAU listserv and ensures accuracy hereof
• Manages GAU g-mail email account
• Maintains and updates GAU website
• Maintains GAU MySpace and Facebook accounts
• Develops (with VP for Membership) promotional material for membership recruitment purposes
• Serves as Editor in Chief of GAU newsletter
• Oversee external communication to the media and the public-
• Write Press releases and ensures distribution hereof
• Manage distribution list for external distribution of material
• Develops (with Organizing Chair) material for organizing purposes
• Serves as Advisor to Steward Council
• Recruits members and operates in manner which builds organizational capacity
• Identifies and engages potential leaders
