Use these instructions if you will be unable to vote in person at the polling place (Lawson 141) on Friday September 30, 2011 (4-7pm). Please read the instructions listed below very carefully. Should the ballot not be marked with an “X” in a box (no other markings will be counted), or if the signature sheet is placed in the “Ballot Envelope,” your ballot will be marked void and not counted.
- Print these instructions (available online: GAU Absentee & Proxy Voting Procedures [PDF]) and the ballot (available online: GAU Strike Vote Ballot [PDF]) on separate sheets of paper.
- Mark your ballot with an “X” in the box of your choice.
- Fold the ballot, place it in an envelope (this is the “Ballot Envelop“), and seal the envelope.
- If you are returning your ballot by mail, check the box on this form labeled “by mail.”
- If another person will deliver your ballot to the polling place during polling hours, then check the box on this form labeled “by proxy delivery” and write the name of the person who will deliver the ballot and filled out instructions to the polling place.
- Sign this instruction sheet, which indicates that you have received the ballot and voted. Make sure that you have selected the method by which your ballot will be delivered. Place your completed instruction sheet and your sealed “Ballot Envelope” into another envelope (this is the “Delivery Envelope“).
- If you are sending the ballot by mail, send the ballot envelope and filled out instruction sheet in a sealed delivery envelope to Dennis McDonald, History Department, Mailcode 4519, SIUC, Carbondale, IL 62901 by September 29th in order for the ballot to arrive by noon, September 30th.
